“Cling-On” is a beautiful 2-year old green-cheeked conure who will make an excellent pet. It was its owner favorite bird and rode around on his shoulder all the time until the Asperger’s Syndrome got so bad that the owner cannot interact or care for it. We want to place it into a permanent loving home very soon so it can begin interaction with its new family. Green cheeks have BIG personalities, especially for such small birds! This can be a good thing, because they're so smart and interactive, but it can also be a bad thing, and green cheeks are more prone to behavior problems than are cockatiels or budgies. Most green cheeks just adore having their heads and necks rubbed: many also like to be petted all over and some will allow you to do things like flip them over on their backs and rub their tummies. Green cheeks do love to play! Toys can be store-bought, or home-made, and they can also be things that I bet you never thought were toys at all! Green cheeks like to chew, they like to climb on and hang from things, and some like to climb into and explore things, such as boxes, paper bags, or your sleeve! Green cheeks will also play with you, initiating their own games. One favorite is, "I drop it, you get it!".
Cling-on needs to be placed in a loving home as soon as possible so it can begin being worked with. We will give suggestions on how to work with it and tame it down so it can be a fun pet. They have very curious and cute personalities. Cling-on should be provided a larger cage with a play gym or other exercise area in which to play with toys and flap its wings. We will provide a small cage for Cling-on but highly recommend a larger one be provided.
